Earlier today the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness, chaired by Jo’s friends Seema Kennedy MP and Rachel Reeves MP, launched a report on its findings in Batley alongside Jo’s family.
The report marks the culmination of the year-long commission that Jo started before she was killed. Amongst the report’s findings are that:
9 million adults are often or always lonely;
Loneliness is as harmful to health as obesity or smoking 15 cigarettes a day;

Chris Horner of Southgate District Civic Trust is asking for local community groups to help make Southgate Civic Week a great success.
This year the size and number of events has expanded ; there are now 33 events, as so many community groups have engaged with this community event .
Other groups are invited to join in by promoting their group or event in the Southgate, Cockfosters,Winchmore Hill, Oakwood and Palmers Green areas.

North London Samaritans have got through the first stage of a submission to the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore the "Tin Tabernacle" in Bowes Park for use as a call centre and community centre. To succeed in Stage 2 they need to prove that there is sufficient demand from community groups and other organisations who would wish to hire such a hall.

Talkies is a not-for-profit, volunteer-led society which gets no regular funding or subsidy. Through the generous support of Friends of Talkies, together with other fund-raising and ticket sales, in 2015 we were able to:
commission young film makers to create short films based in our area;
run HERE FILM FESTIVAL, which showcases local talent;
buy good quality equipment to improve your cinema experience;
establish two new local groups - one in Bowes Park/Bounds Green and another in Bush.......
