Southgate District Civic Trust has announced the dates of the second Southgate Civic Week: 10th to 18th June.
The first Southgate Civic Week was held last summer and impressed the national body Civic Voice so much that SDCT was presented with the 2016 Civic Day Award in recognition of its "outstanding effort for Civic Day".
Last year SDCT involved a dozen or so other local community groups during Civic Week, and this year it is hoping to expand the network of groups involved and the number of events. So if you or a group you belong to would like to organise an event during the week, SDCT would like to hear from you.
Southgate Civic Week 2017
Saturday 10th June to Sunday 18th June 2017
There is so much that is important to all our lives and the place where we live. SOUTHGATE CIVIC WEEKgives our community the opportunity to celebrate positively what we have and to bring people together, to explore and enjoy our local environment, its history and the facilities available to all of us.
CIVIC WEEK is an event promoted nationally by Civic Voice. Here it comprises a series of events to showcase the diversity of community groups and the range of activities taking place across the original Southgate Municipal Borough, an area including Cockfosters, Oakwood, Winchmore Hill, Palmers Green and Southgate.
Southgate District Civic Trust (SDCT) is working closely with Civic Voice to unite the community, with the simple aim that we can all do something, however small, to make the Southgate District a better place to live.
Southgate District Civic Trust is creating a programme of CIVIC WEEK events with local groups. Last year we teamed up with Friends of Parks, Walker Cricket Ground, Southgate Green Association, allotment groups, Southgate Photographic Society, Woodcroft Wildspace, Christ Church Cockfosters and Christ Church Southgate, a local history walking guide, an historic re-enactment company, a local author and playwright.
Last year SDCT won a Civic Voice award for the Southgate Civic Week. So, this year we want to expand the network of events and local groups.
If you are organising a community event during CIVIC WEEK, or would like to organise one, then join our network of CIVIC WEEKevents.
Event details will be uploaded onto the dedicated CIVIC WEEKpage of the SDCT web site www.southgatedistrictcivictrust.org.ukand onto SDCT’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/southgatedistrictcivictrust and on Twitter @southgatetrust.
If you have an event, would like to participate, or want more information, please e-mail the CIVIC WEEK TEAM at SDCT via .
