North London Samaritans are looking for a new voluntary Treasurer - someone with an accountancy background.
The role will cover producing Annual Accounts, Noms claims, preparing the Annual report, making Gift Aid claims, doing any Corporation tax returns, renewing the insurance policy annually, preparing management accounts, and supporting the book keeper.
The treasurer will be a support volunteer, so not involved in directly supporting callers, and will be a trustee of the charity,

Haven House children's hospice has published Vision 2020, its strategy for the next five years, during which time it hopes to expand the number of children it can care for.
Vision 2020
Vision 2020 is our first five-year strategy since the hospice opened in 2003.
In this time we have been there for over 600 families, ensuring that they are not alone when caring for a child with a life-limiting condition.

North London Samaritans have got through the first stage of a submission to the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore the "Tin Tabernacle" in Bowes Park for use as a call centre and community centre. To succeed in Stage 2 they need to prove that there is sufficient demand from community groups and other organisations who would wish to hire such a hall.

St Andrew's Church in Southgate has issued an appeal for people to volunteer to help run a winter night shelter.
St Andrew's is one of several churches in the borough involved in the Enfield Churches Winter Night Shelter scheme, being run in association with All People All Places. The scheme started operation earlier this week and St Andrews is providing overnight shelter on Wednesday nights for six weeks starting on 6th January, offering meals and a warm place to sleep to homeless.......

And this year the shop is selling a card featuring one of the highlights of Broomfield Park - the beautiful Conservatory that is maintained by the Friends of Broomfield Park.

A new request has been made for volunteers to help run a church-based winter shelter and a second training event for volunteers has been arranged.
The new request comes from the Vicar of All Saints Edmonton, where the shelter would operate on Sunday nights between 2nd January and 13th March 2016.
The two dates for training sessions are:

A children's hospice which cares for children in Enfield is planning to expand the number of children it can support at one time.
Haven House Children's Hospice, based in Woodford, East London, was set up in 2003, since when it has provided care and support for more than 600 families in North and North East London, West Essex and East Hertfordshire.

A winter shelter scheme for people who are suffering from homelessness is seeking to recruit volunteers and raise funds to cover operating costs. Several churches in Enfield borough will be used as shelters, including St John's in Palmers Green.

North London Hospice organising a spectacular talent show to raise money to help fund its work.
North London's Got Talent will be held at the Arts Depot in North Finchley on 6th February 2016.
North London Hospice provides specialist end-of-life care to over 1,500 patients, and supports their friends and families - all completely free of charge in the boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.

We've written before about how North London Samaritans would like to restore the "Tin Tabernacle" at Bowes Park and use it to run their live-saving services. Now the insurance company Aviva has included it in the Aviva Community Fund. You can register with the Community Fund and will be given ten votes to distribute as you choose between the 3000+ projects.
Depending on how many votes it collects, the Shaftesbury Hall Refurbishment Project (to use its official title) could receive.......
