Why you shouldn't feed bread to ducks

When in Broomfield Park I often see people feeding bread to the water fowl, ignoring the signs asking them not to. On one occasion I pointed out the signs to someone who was in the process of throwing bread in one of the lakes, only to be told 'No, that's wrong.' But the notice is right - feeding ducks bread is bad for them.

There will be events for gardeners and music lovers, as well as for kids and for people of all ages wishing to improve their artistic or culinary skills.

Broomfield Conservatory open again on Wednesdays

From the start of April these impressive gates, that once guarded the underground toilets at the Triangle, will be opening to let in visitors to Broomfield Conservatory on Wednesdays as well as Sundays. To raise money for the upkeep of the plants, this Sunday (2nd April) there will be a plant sale outside the Conservatory.

Celebrating another golden year in Broomfield Conservatory

On a very wet Sunday 8th January, volunteers from the Friends of Broomfield Park's conservatory group gathered in their favourite greenhouse to celebrate their achievements in 2022 and look forward to another year welcoming visitors to Palmers Green's own mini-Kew Gardens.

MP joins call to turn down Oktoberfest licence

Despite Enfield Council's request to the organisers of the London Oktoberfest to withdraw their application to hold a German-themed beer festival in Broomfield Park, Friends of Broomfield Park and other residents concerned about the planned event are calling on residents to continue to submit their own objections to the licensing committee. Among those who have done so recently is Enfield Southgate MP Bambos Charalambous, who has published his letter to the committee.

Councillor: 'I am confident that Oktoberfest will not be going ahead'

Enfield Council has asked the organisers of a German-themed beer festival due to be held in Broomfield Park to withdraw their application for a licence for the event. In a letter to residents a Palmers Green councillor says she is 'confident' that the event will not go ahead.
