broomfield conservatory showing new railingsFrom the start of April these impressive gates, which once guarded the underground toilets at the Triangle, will be opening to let in visitors to Broomfield Conservatory on Wednesdays as well as Sundays

For the past couple of months visitors to Broomfield Park have been unable to take advantage of the midweek opening of Palmers Green's own mini-Kew Gardens - Broomfield Conservatory. Wednesday opening has been suspended because of ongoing work to repair and repaint the 1930s building. However, for various reasons little progress has been made and the council has now decided to postpone the most disruptive work until the autumn. Between now and then the Conservatory will go back to opening twice a week - on Sundays and Wednesdays from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

So you now have more opportunities to come along and see how the bananas are doing - they're taking a long time to go from green to yellow, but perhaps a few more visitors breathing out carbon dioxide will help them along!

This Sunday there's a special reason to visit - a houseplant sale with the proceeds going towards maintaining the plant collections. Please bring cash (there will be no facility for paying by card) and a bag to take away your purchases.
