Following preliminary soundings last month, Thames 21 and Enfield Council will be presenting more detailed proposals for a wetlands scheme in Broomfield Park.  Consultation events will be held in the Park on 27th July and 12th August, followed by an online consultation.

The project, like earlier wetlands schemes in Firs Farm Park, Grovelands Park and elsewhere, has several aims: providing a wildlife habitat for public enjoyment, reducing the risk of flooding downstream and improving water quality in the Pymmes Brook, into which water from the park flows.  This is a part of a larger project to improve the quality of water in various local tributaries of the Lea and eventually in the Thames itself (the Lea flows into the Thames at Limehouse).
