Thames 21 and Enfield Council to consult on Broomfield Park wetlands proposal

Following preliminary soundings last month, Thames 21 and Enfield Council will be presenting more detailed proposals for a wetlands scheme in Broomfield Park.  Consultation events will be held in the Park on 27th July and 12th August, followed by an online consultation. The Busy Beekeepers of Broomfield

Broomfield Park's community café- the Palmers Greenery - has had another successful year and is inviting groups and individuals to bid for a share of its profits. The Greenery is a "community café" in several ways: its cakes are baked and sold by volunteers from the community, it serves a community function by providing refreshments in the park, and it invests its surpluses in community projects.  It's located near the tennis and netball courts and is open on Wednesdays,.......

The Friends of Broomfield Park and Enfield Council have recently been successful in securing £64,000 of funding from the War Memorials Trust. As part of the proposed project it is intended to restore the Stained Glass windows that were once set in the back three recesses of the Memorial Temple. We are now asking if anyone out there may have taken photographs of the memorial many years ago showing the design on the original stained glass before the three red fillers were installed. Sketching Day in Broomfield Conservatory

The Friends of Broomfield Park launch their 2017 season of special events in Broomfield Conservatory this Sunday, starting with a Sketching Workshop. War Memorial Trust to help finance restoration of Broomfield Park Remembrance Garden

The Remembrance Garden Temple A campaign by the Friends of Broomfield Park to restore the Park's Remembrance Garden has finally succeeded.  Enfield Council notified the Friends this week that the War Memorial Trust has agreed to a grant of £63,270 to the Council.  This represents 75 per cent of the total cost - the remainder will be paid by the Council War Memorial Temple - roof repairs and new stained glass windows replicating the original design. Yes we have some bananas!

The banana plant in Broomfield Conservatory has had a big bunch of fruit hanging from it for several months.  The bananas have grown steadily larger, but stayed green, until a week or two ago.  Now they are begining to ripen, as you can see from this photo. So get round to the Conservatory while they're still there! Broomfield Conservatory is maintained by volunteers and is open on Wednesdays and Sundays from 2pm to 4pm........

The Friends of Broomfield Park’s annual service of remembrance for those who died in the two world wars and subsequent conflicts was held in the Garden of Remembrance in Broomfield Park on Friday, November 11. The Friends of Broomfield Park have announced the results of their 2016 Photo Competition. The winner in the Adult category was Munise Cebesi for entry No 47: The winner in the Under 16 category was Alize Akturk for a photograph entitled Perspective Runners up in the adult category were David Sumeray (entry No 13) and Sandra Roberts (entry No 29).
