The beautiful Broomfield Conservatory is at its best in this sunny weather. Both visitors and the conservatory's collection of exotic plants are enjoying the light and warmth, and currently there's an extra treat for visitors - an exhibition of photographs submitted to the Friends of Broomfield Park's second annual photocompetition.
The Friends' committee members have, with great difficulty, shortlisted eleven of the 85 entries to the competition, printed them out and put them on display in the Conservatory. Visitors are being invited to vote for their favourite. The photos will be on show every Wednesday and Sunday from 2.30 to 4.30 until Sunday 4th May.
On Sunday 27th April the Friends have organised a plant swap in the Conservatoryo to raise money for maintaining the plants - all the work is done by a team of volunteers. You can bring along plants that you'd like to swap, or just bring money, make a donation and take away a plant.
If you haven't been inside the Conservatory, it's well worth a visit. It's hidden away in near one of the ornamental ponds - see the map.
You can see all 85 entries to the photocompetition on the Friends of Broomfield Park website The website also has a newly enlarged section of information and photos of the Conservatory, including information about how to volunteer to help maintain the Conservatory and open it up to visitors.
