Enfield Council's Youth Support Service is seeking volunteers to act as group facilitators for an innovative project designed to help young people make positive choices. The facilitators will be required for sessions on one afternoon a week for 13 weeks beginning on 12 March 2014. If you're planning to send charity Christmas cards this year, be careful where you buy them from! If you purchase them from a well-known High Street name, the chances are that most of the money you spend will go to the retailer, not to the charity. Very few shops pass on more than 25 per cent of the selling price to the named charity, and the average figure is actually closer to 10 per cent. The charity All People All Places, which runs projects to help homeless people, is hoping to expand the Haringey Churches Winter Shelter across the borough boundary into Enfield to become the Haringey and Enfield Churches Winter Shelter. When you visit the Palmers Green Community Festival on Sunday 1st September, be sure to visit the stand run by Noah's Ark Children's Hospice. This is a locally based charity with a difference: a hospice without its own building.
