Enfield Council's Youth Support Service is seeking volunteers to act as group facilitators for an innovative project designed to help young people make positive choices. The facilitators will be required for sessions on one afternoon a week for 13 weeks beginning on 12 March 2014.
The project is designed to help young people whose circumstances put them at risk of negative outcomes, for example, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, criminal activity, exclusion and categorisation as "NEETs" (Not in Education, Employment or Training).
To reduce the probability of these and other problems, the project aims at raising aspiration, self-esteem, self-belief and educational attainment and promoting mental health and emotional/social wellbeing.
To accomplish this the project's goal is to provide the young people with positive experiences that reinforce good messages about themselves and their worth. It also aims to furnish them with the skills they need to protect themselves, to resist peer pressure, to make the right decisions for themselves, and to avoid risky situations and behaviour.
Facilitators need to be 18 years and over and desirably to have previous experience of working with young people.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mya Hamit on 020 8379 4611 or email .
The deadline for applications is 14 February 2014.
