North London YMCA and the charity Family Action are looking for "hosts" who could provide support and accommodation for a 16 to 24-year old for a period of approximately three months.
The Keeping Families Together project is being funded by Haringey Council and is seeking hosts living in Haringey or adjoining boroughs, such as Enfield. The young people it is designed to support are those whose relationships with their families have broken down. People who have become homeless for this reason have been shown to be considerably more vulnerable than the overall homeless population.
Hosts - families, couples or single people - would provide the young people with a caring, nurturing environment where they could thrive and gain important life skills. At the same time trained professionals would provide one-to-one support and conflict resolution aimed at supporting the young person back into their family home (or other suitable accommodation).
In return for their services, hosts would be paid and would receive training and ongoing support throughout the time they were involved.
