For the third year running All Saints Church in Edmonton will be hosting the Lamb Festival, celebrating local literary celebrities Charles and Mary Lamb.
The Festival will run from Saturday 18th June to Friday 24th June, starting with a Fair on the Saturday afternoon. Da Capo Concert Band was established in 1997 with the principal objective of providing amateur adult woodwind, brass, and percussion players with a friendly, dynamic and challenging environment in which to play.

On 1st October London People's Orchestra are holding an open evening to recruit new string players.
All coaching received from London People's Orchestra will be from professional string players, you will also receive technique classes and a chance to play with a full orchestra.

As we confidently forecast in the weekly newsletter, last Sunday was hot and sunny and people turned out in droves to listen to the Broomfield Blues in Broomfield Park. They also stopped by at the Community Orchard to admire the wildflowers, see how the apples were coming on, drink home-made apple wine and observe the insects in their bug hotel, the Bugsingham Palace. A few visitors even tried their hand at croquet on the former bowling green. And there were chilli plants on.......

The first of this year's Proms in the Park was hot and sunny, the second - held last Sunday - was overcast with occasional drizzle. But the weather didn't deter over a hundred people gathering to listen and dance to musicians from Bowes Park Folk Club and local singer/songwriter Luke Carey - as you can see from the cutting below, taken from the Enfield Gazette.

Despite rain earlier in the day, the Proms in the Park season got off to a hot and sunny start on Sunday afternoon. A pleasant atmosphere prevailed as music lovers sat on the grass near the Broomfield Park bandstand to listen to music by North London Brass, with an intermission provided by young drummers from BishBashBosh and BoxBeaters.

The mysterious "Palmers Scream" scroll, discovered in Southgate Town Hall, says that "Broomfield should be a happy place. All effort should be taken to bring joy and merriment to its grasses throughout the year, for each smile reduces the power of the witches as they sleep." One group of people who are rising to the challenge of "bringing joy and merriment to its grasses" are the Friends of Broomfield Park, who this year are extending the season of summer free musical events to take in.......

Children's International Voices of Enfield were one of the choirs featured on Radio 3's The Choir programme on 28th April. You can listen to a clip of the choir in action along with commentary from singers Tom, Joe and Genevieve.
Made up of six choirs with members from the ages of 4 to 18, they have been running for twenty years. You can hear extracts of two pieces composed by their patron, John Rutter.
The Children's Voices are currently rehearsing for a concert at Palmers Green.......

This year's spring production by FFBOS is a radical retelling of the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, The Mikado. Retitled Hot Mikado, this musical story brings a modern twist to the popular tale about the wandering minstrel Nanki-Poo and his love for the fair maid Yum-Yum. An urgent call to Enfield Gentlemen from Simon Gilbert!
The Enfield Community Singers, a rising star in the local choral firmament, urgently require male singers to augment our already splendid sound. Following another standing ovation at Mount Carmel and St George’s Church in December, the choir is already planning concerts well into the spring of 2015.
However, we are restricted for the more ambitious pieces of music without the strong male base that these pieces require.

For the past couple of years every Friday evening has seen St Monica's Parish Centre on Cannon Hill transformed into "St Harmonica's Blues Club" - three hours of excellent music, swift service of very reasonably priced drinks, and a great sociable atmosphere. Starting this month, the same venue will be open on Sunday evenings too for "Unplugged Sundays at St Monica's".

If you travel to Bowes Park station, walk up the stairs from the platform and turn right (towards Bounds Green), the first building you encounter when leaving the station is Shaftesbury Hall, a former chapel now known locally as the "Tin Tabernacle". It's a rare survivor of a type of metal self-assembly church that sprang up the Victorian era, but is now in a state of disrepair.
