As we confidently forecast in the weekly newsletter, last Sunday was hot and sunny and people turned out in droves to listen to the Broomfield Blues in Broomfield Park. They also stopped by at the Community Orchard to admire the wildflowers, see how the apples were coming on, drink home-made apple wine and observe the insects in their bug hotel, the Bugsingham Palace. A few visitors even tried their hand at croquet on the former bowling green. And there were chilli plants on sale in Broomfield Conservatory and, as always at the weekend, home made cakes and coffee on sale at the Palmers Greenery.

All these events were organised by the Friends of Broomfield Park. The Friends still need new volunteers to help create a new community growing space and wildlife pond. it's a great way to get some fresh air and exercise and make new friends. If you'd like to find out more, please email .
This Sunday there will be more special events. The Community Orchard will have its annual Summer Picnic and the second of this year's Broomfield Blues will feature The Haunting AD and the Blues Chapter.
