Southgate District Civic Trust has restated its commitment to fight proposals for a development incorporating three towers, including one 17 storeys high, close to the Southgate Circus Conservation Area, and has launched a campaign to raise money to help it argue its case at a planning panel to be held next month. Revised proposals submitted by the developer last week include a reduction in the height of the towers, but not by a large enough amount to satisfy opponents.

Following the official launch last week of the borough's new Heritage Strategy, Enfield Council is encouraging community groups to propose ideas for local heritage projects that could attract funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF). Recent changes to NLHF priorities mean that projects in Enfield should stand a higher chance of success when bidding for funds.

Southgate District Civic Trust is hoping to enlist the support of local MP David Burrowes for a new Parliamentary grouping that will be seeking to ensure that the views of local communities are taken into account in the planning process.

Long delayed plans to restore one of Palmers Greens' most notable buildings - Truro House, located on the corner of Green Lanes and Oakthorpe Road - are finally set to move ahead after agreement was reached between its owners and Enfield Council.
The project involves restoration of the main house as single dwelling, conversion of the coach house into a dwelling, and the construction of two apartment blocks comprising 25 flats in total.

The saga of Broomfield House rolls slowly on, but what kind of ending it is heading towards remains as obscure as ever. Enfield Council has begun the process of submitting a new bid for Lottery Heritage Fund money to be used in connection with the ruined mansion.
