Last week the news was that PG will be losing one landmark - the Intimate Theatre. This week we can report the restoration of an old landmark, the turret on the Fox pub, complete with weathercock - or should that be "weatherfox"?
It's very nice to have the turret back, and I look forward to having the pub back (this decade perhaps?). But one thing troubles me about the new/old turret. I think that the fox on the turret may have lost his bearings and is confusing his north with his east and his south with his west.
Is the "weatherfox" correctly aligned?
My photo is of low quality, but I think it shows the wind direction arrow pretty nearly aligned with the Green Lanes frontage of the building, which is not far off north-south (perhaps SSW), but that's not what the direction pointers indicate. To check we need someone with a better camera to take a picture square on from Green Lanes. And then we'll need a volunteer to climb up and put things right!
