The Mums for Lungs campaign argues that controlled parking zones (CPZs) are good for children's health because by reducing traffic they protect developing lungs from exposure to air pollution from engines and tyres. The campaign urges parents to support CPZs near their homes and schools even if they themselves do not drive.

On six days this summer the council's Journeys & Places team will be running free cycling activities for children to learn to ride, improve their cycling skills and join in cycling games. A variety of bikes and trikes will be provided to suit ages 6-16.

2021 sees the tenth anniversary of the Met's Christmas Appeal, which has so far provided more than 116,000 presents for children in need. This year there are nearly 17,000 children (aged from birth to 17 years old) to provide a gift for. These children come from many different backgrounds. Many live in poverty, in refuges or are child carers, and some live in children's homes. The one thing they all have in common is that they are all children in need living in London.
