Less than a month to go till the 2014 Southgate and Palmers Green Open Studios & Art Trail.  If you're impatient to see some of the beautiful work produced by the participating artists and creatives, you can call in at the preview exhibition that opens this Wednesday (14 May) at Anthony Webb in Green Lanes.  And if you want to start planning your routes for Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June, you can download a copy of the Trail Guide (printed copies will also be posted through.......

New oil painting course starts this month

A twelve-week course on painting with oils begins on Tuesday 22nd April in Wood Green, starting at 7.30pm.  The classes, intended for people of all ages, are taught by Mick Yates and will be held at the Burghley Road Children's Centre, London N8 OQG (near Turnpike Lane). New arts festival launches essay and photographic competitions

A new locally based arts festival is running essay and photographic competitions which will be open only to Enfield residents or students at schools in the borough. Grave of Charles and Mary Lamb in the churchyard of All Saints EdmontonThe week-long Lamb Festival will be held at All Saints Church in Edmonton starting on 31st May. It will celebrate two of Edmonton's most famous residents - the 18th Century essayist and poet Charles Lamb and his sister Mary, who was also a writer and collaborated.......

Palmers Green artist warns of dangers of intolerance

An art exhibition opening later this month at the Dugdale Centre is not entitled Watch Out! for nothing. It will comprise some 20+ paintings by Moshe Galili, a Palmers Green resident and Holocaust survivor, who fears that a neo-Nazi movement currently developing in his native Hungary and elsewhere in the former Soviet bloc could revive some of the horrors that he himself lived through as a young man. Ceramics class at Millfields

A ceramics class at the Millfields Arts Centre, designed for people with varying levels of experience in working with clay, will run from 6th January to 31st March (no class on 17th February). The class is taught by Deborah Broomfield, who can be contacted at debartclay@gmail.com. Fees of £120 are payable in advance in two instalments or can be paid each week at £11. Fees include clay, firing and glazes........
