Action for Enfield's Future - a non-political consortium of Enfield-based residents and civil sector groups - are asking the borough's residents to write to their ward councillors requesting a special ward forum to discuss the draft Enfield Local Plan. In Winchmore Hill ward a meeting is already scheduled for Friday 19th January.
Last Thursday evening supporters of Enfield Dispatch gathered to celebrate the free community newspaper's fifth birthday. Since its launch, the Dispatch, in combination with the BBC-funded Local Democracy Reporting scheme, has utterly transformed news reporting in Enfield in terms of both quantity and quality, and has also provided an outlet for members of the community to see their words in print.
The final outcome of consultations about redrawing parliamentary boundaries will see most of the Palmers Green area becoming part of a new Southgate & Wood Green constituency, but some PG streets will move to a new Edmonton & Winchmore Hill constituency.
At the first Ward Forum for the reconfigured Palmers Green ward, held on 31st January at the Ruth Winston Centre, local residents were introduced to their two new councillors and raised a large number of issues of concern. But the meeting also agreed to look for positive ideas to improve PG.

A campaign has been launched in opposition to the proposal by the boundary commissioners for a radical reshaping of the parliamentary constituency in which Palmers Green is located. A public meeting will be held at St Peter's Church, Grange Park, at 8pm on Monday 28th November.
Updated proposals for new parliamentary boundaries would place Palmers Green in a long, thin and strangely misshapen constituency that stretches from the M25 in the north as far as Turnpike Lane in the south - but doesn't include Winchmore Hill!
