Haringey Council has published its detailed proposals for three low-traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs), including one in the Bounds Green/Bowes Park area immediately adjacent to Enfield Council's Bowes Primary LTN. The other two both extend between least to west between Green Lanes and Tottenham High Road  - the Bruce Grove/West Green LTN to the north of West Green Road and the St Ann's LTN to the south of West Green Road.

Haringey Council says that "the schemes are designed to deliver pedestrian prioritised streets that will improve air quality, reduce traffic levels and enable safer walking and cycling". A new phase of consultation begain on Monday and will run until Friday 17th September. As in Enfield and elsewhere, the LTNs will be implemented as trials, with formal consultation running concurrently. The intention is to begin trial operation in autumn/winter 2021.

The designs have been developed in conjunction with residents in community design workshops. The methods used to remove through traffic are familiar from Enfield's schemes and those in other boroughs: filters that let through people on foot or on bikes or scooters - either "physical filters" - planters or bollards - or "emergency access filters", where there is no physical blockage but drivers who ignore them are subject to fines. The effect of the filters is to divide the area into zones which drivers can access from only one direction - Haringey Council's maps use coloured shading to show the zones.

Ob the first two of the maps below there are streets in both Haringey and Enfield. Effectively, there are two cross-borough sub-LTNs, one (Area B) east of the railway line between Palmers Green and Alexandra Palace, the other (Area A) to its west. In turn, the western sub-LTN is itself made up of two separate sub-sub-LTNs, because Brownlow Road remains open to through traffic. Should Enfield Council go ahead with its proposal for a bus gate in Brownlow Road, these two separate areas will be combined and through traffic will be able use only the A406, Bounds Green Road and Green Lanes/Wood Green High Road. This, and any other changes that either borough might wish to make to their designs, will obviously be subject to negotiation between the two councils, as well as with Transport for London.

The third sub-LTN (Area C) is located to the south of Bounds Green Road and is designed to remove rat-running through side streets to the west of Durnsford Road.
