While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.
Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.
For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.
Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions

Part of Andrea Aste's Myddleton Road mural inside the TaproomLast Friday saw a further notable development in the continuing revival of Bowes Park's Myddleton Road - the opening of the nearby Bohem Brewery's own Taproom, serving beer from the UK's only Czech brewery.
While both taproom and brewery are in the N22 postal district, the stretch of Whittington Road that the brewery is located in is actually on the Enfield side of the boundary with Haringey borough, so arguably part of Palmers.......
The organisers of the Fairer Funding for Enfield petition are looking for volunteers to spend a couple of hours collecting signatures at local shopping centres.
The consortium that is taking over the running of the Wolves Lane Centre has issued some information about future activities at the Centre. Its vision for the site is "a thriving centre for food growing, healthy food skills education and a space for groups and social enterprises to run activities that benefit the community". The consortium will be inviting the local community to be part of a "series of conversations" about the future of the Centre. The Centre was previously run by Haringey.......
As a further cost-cutting measure in response to severe cutbacks in funding by central government, Enfield Council is considering closing toilets in some of its parks.
The following report is taken from the Fox Lane Residents' Association website and was published on 30th March.
LB Enfield is reviewing the provision of park toilets, in light of the cost of maintaining the service and also the problem of vandalism. Of the current 16 toilet facilities, one has already been identified for full.......
As part of the Cycle Enfield works, resurfacing of Green Lanes at and near the junction with Station Road and Fords Grove will be carried out overnight for four nights starting on Monday 10th April. Buses 329 and N29 will be diverted away from Winchmore Hill between 8pm and 5am.
The section that will not be covered is likely to be between Bush Hill Parade ("Church Street" bus stop) and the Green Lanes/Hedge Lane/Bourne Hill junction in Palmers Green.

The deadline for commenting on controversial proposals to introduce measures to limit access to certain medical procedures in Enfield has been extended until 31 May. A meeting at the end of March clearly showed the level of public disquiet about what is being planned. I would recommend anyone concerned about the future of the NHS to attend one of the newly arranged consultation meetings.
Consultation meetings
Monday 24 April 2017, 6-7:30pm, Holbrook House, Cockfosters Road, EN4.......
Last week saw a very sad event - the closure until further notice of Wood Green's unique Wolves Lane Centre - a combination of a nursery growing plants for Haringey's parks, a public garden centre, a small-scale Eden Project and an invaluable social and community asset. it provided training in gardening skills to help people with physical and/or learning difficulties or seeking employment, and both environmental education and work experience for local schoolchildren.
Quite when and in.......
The Mayor of London has announced that he intends to bring forward the introduction of the Ultra-Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) in Central London by a year. Subject to further consultation, it will now come into force in April 2019. Drivers of petrol vehicles that don’t meet Euro 4 standards and diesel vehicles that do not meet Euro 6 standards will have to pay a daily fee of £12.50 for cars, vans and motorbikes and £100 for buses, coaches and HGVs.
Initially, the ULEZ.......

North London Samaritans have been given a Big Lottery Fund grant of £545,0000 to rebuild a former "Tin Tabernacle" to use as a centre for their lifesaving work and to provide a new communitiy facility for Bowes Park.
Shaftesbury Hall (to give the former chapel its proper name) is located in Herbert Road, adjacent to Bowes Park Station. The building is currently in complete disrepair - the plan now is not to restore it, but to build a replica from modern materials with an additional.......
