Eighteen months ago PGC was advertising the final event in the Talkies Suburban Film Festival 2020, scheduled for 21st March, when suddenly....
Since that memorable March 2020 week Talkies Community Cinema has been semi-dormant, restricted to an occasional open-air screening in Broomfield Park. But Talkies founder David Williamson has been anything but asleep - he's been putting his experience in putting on film screenings to good use organising an impressive range of outdoor events for the Friends of Broomfield Park, culminating in this year's Broomfield Summer Festival, and has deservedly been recognised as an Enfield Community Hero.
Next month Talkies will be dipping its toe into the water and trying out indoor screenings for the first time since March last year, in St Johns Hall in Palmers Green, but restricting the number of tickets available.
In mid March 2020 we had little idea what lay ahead .... just a few days before the premiere of our latest short film commissions we went into lock down.....
We open Talkies again where we left off - with six talented young film makers who created their short films around Palmers Green. We have stories about 'bookie shops', sewing machines, weddings, cappuccinos, loneliness and our first music video! Don't miss the most special of nights as Talkies re-opens.
In response to our recent audience survey we are opening with limited capacity.
