This Sunday Broomfield Bowl will be the venue for the first ever Palmers Green Food Festival. And who better to take charge of the spoons and ladles, pots and pans and kitchen teams than PG's own Cooking Champion, Clare Donovan?

The summer (?) weather has not cooperated quite as well as it could have with this year's Broomfield Summer Festival, but the forecast is looking good for this weekend, when the final two theatrical events will be staged in the Broomfield Bowl. Prepare to be amused...and moved.

Details of the gastronomic delights that we'll be able to partake of at the Palmers Green Food Festival next month are being gradually revealed. One of the highlights will be a London-themed pie baking competition.

A few weeks ago Francis Sealey of GlobalNet21 and Enfield Voices uploaded an interview with Sarah Cotton about the Palmers Greenery community café in Broomfield Park. The interview is packed with information and ideas and I've picked out just a few of the points. Watching the interview, if you weren't aware of it already, you'll soon realise that, in Sarah's words, the Greenery is 'so much more than a park café'.

Local gastro-charity Cooking Champions will be providing a Moulin Rouge Outdoor Dining Experience in Broomfield Community Orchard on 3rd September, designed to match the theme of that evening's open-air screening of Baz Luhrman's 2001 romantic film of the same name.

The borough-wide Month of Sundays festival will be stopping off in Southgate on Sunday 15th August, and one of the many activities taking place near the tube station will be the launch of a new campaign - Cleaner, Safer, Greener Southgate.

We are delighted to announce that the Ruth Winston Community Centre will be welcoming back some of its popular classes as from Monday 19th July.

A new 'chill-out' space in Broomfield Park which was formally opened last Wednesday has been designed and built by pupils from Broomfield School to provide somewhere for people of different generations to spend time together in the park. The project is a collaboration between the school, the Palmers Greenery community cafe, the Friends of Broomfield Park and the charity Build Up.

For the second year running the Hazelwood panto goes alfresco, relocating to the Broomfield Bowl, where the beautiful backdrop of verdant foliage will match its eco theme perfectly. The daft songs and well worn jokes delivered by an accomplished cast of panto actors and musicians will delight adults and children alike. <

The Ruth Winston Centre will be re-opening for drop-ins and some low-activity classes from 24th May.

Instead of hibernating over the winter, Friends of Broomfield Park have been busy organising the Broomfield Summer Festival, an amazing array of music, theatre, dance, cinema, family and food events.
