So head down to Ashfield Parade on 15th August between 2pm and 8pm and, amongst the live music, food and children's activities, you'll find the Cleaner, Safer, Greener Southgate stalls, where you can learn about developing a more sustainable environment, discover tips on keeping safe and join in a family quiz with lots of prizes.

Zoey Cooper from EnCaf (Enfield Climate Action Forum) explained: “The aim of Cleaner, Safer, Greener Southgate campaign is two-fold. We want to celebrate the work being done by residents and local businesses. But we also want to encourage and support people to get to know their area and respect their surroundings in a more sustainable way."

Dionne John, one of the organisers, said: "We are very excited about the campaign and the Community Pop-up event that we'll be running the day before the launch - between 9am and 12pm at the Southgate Club, 17 Chase Side."

At the pop-up, local people will be able to share their ideas and priorities for Southgate and discuss any concerns in an informal way, before the main launch event on 15th August.

Cllr Charith Gunawardena, a local resident, said: "Both the pop-up and stalls will create fantastic opportunities for the community to come together to bring both environmental awareness and long term eco-friendly solutions to Southgate."

Following the launch at the Month of Sundays festival, the campaign will be running a series of community-inspired cleaner, safer, greener initiatives throughout the year.

The campaign will be overseen by Southgate Community Taskforce, a group of volunteers fully supported by all of Southgate’s local councillors. Hannah Newton from the Taskforce said: "We are a partnership made up of residents, businesses and community groups. And we are looking for more volunteers, including people who may wish to lead on some of the initiatives."
