David Williamson promises us a great opportunity to celebrate our community at the Palmers Green Festival on Sunday 1st September.

The Palmers Green Festival is set to return to Broomfield Park between 12 noon and 5pm next Sunday, 1st September from 12.00 – 5.00pm.

Donkey rides, a dog show, fairground, live music and salsa dance are just some of the highlights making up a day filled with vibrant entertainment, cultural diversity and community spirit.

Behind the festival there's a dedicated team of volunteers whose hard work ensures the smooth running of the event, showing the strong sense of community spirit in the area.

Last year we had a brilliant day, with more than 6000 visitors enjoying a return of the festival after a three-year break brought about by the Covid pandemic. This year the festival is bigger and better, with lots to do for people of all ages and interests.

The Friends of Broomfield Park are working with a great team of partners and many local businesses and organisations are involved.

Local vintage trader Cara McDonagh is organising part of the festival. She says ”The Vintage Village will showcase retro clothes, accessories, antiques, vinyl, toys, books and homeware. We’ve got something for everyone with a great range of stalls with lots of pre-loved, mid-century and quirky treasures, so make sure you come and have a good rummage”

The fabulous local charity Cooking Champions, led by Clare Donovan, has gathered a great selection of local food and drink vendors around the bandstand area, where local performers will keep festivalgoers entertained for hours.

The Family Fun Zone is being organised by Amba Horton, who says “We have delights for children of all ages including activities like face painting, ‘furry and scaly’ animal handling and stalls for ‘plushes’, games and more - it's a lively, safe space where families can enjoy quality time together and create lasting memories."

A Salsa Dance Zone returns to the lawn behind Broomfield House - this year led by dance teachers Courtney Reid and Melinda Szonyi with DJ Technician providing the musical background of the afternoon.

Local dog trainer Monika Kafko is organising a Fun Dog Show with categories for all sorts of best friends to encourage their owners to enjoy some great canine capers.

Biddall’s Fun Fair will be celebrating their 100th year in Broomfield Park with their attractive rides aimed at younger children. And let’s not forget the donkeys, who went down a treat with families last year!

Local charities and organizations, including the Friends of Broomfield Park, will be present to raise awareness about their causes and offer support and information to residents. From mental health services to volunteer groups, the Festival connects people with vital community resources.

Nick Charalambous of Winkworth Estate Agents, who are sponsoring the event, says: "The Palmers Green Festival is a true reflection of our community's diversity, creativity, and solidarity. It's incredible to see so many people come together to celebrate what makes our neighbourhood special. We couldn't have done it without the amazing volunteers and the support of local businesses."

Mark your calendars for Sunday 1st September and join us in Broomfield Park. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor, the Palmers Green Festival promises a memorable experience for everyone.

While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.

Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.

For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.

Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions
