Rail improvements - May or December?

Basil asks, “When will things improve?” I can’t see these old trains reaching the promised sunny heights (uplands?) of post Brexit Britain, so I really don’t know. It does seem that the idea of putting public assets into private hands and running them for dividends at the expense of investment leads to an issue or three for those not sitting in the money stream. The latest revelations of the disaster that is now Royal Mail in south London seems to fit the framework well.

With the earlier Moorgate train (10:10 am) cancelled I was expecting to hear of “drones on the line” but no, instead we have 4 southbound trains per hour scheduled for late morning – 10,29, 40, 59, this being two up on the new timetable that was released only last week, at least for a section of the day. Santa specials, lost trains or could this something more positive to look out for? I think we should be told.

While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.

Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.

For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.

Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions
