Basil asks, “When will things improve?” I can’t see these old trains reaching the promised sunny heights (uplands?) of post Brexit Britain, so I really don’t know. It does seem that the idea of putting public assets into private hands and running them for dividends at the expense of investment leads to an issue or three for those not sitting in the money stream. The latest revelations of the disaster that is now Royal Mail in south London seems to fit the framework well.

With the earlier Moorgate train (10:10 am) cancelled I was expecting to hear of “drones on the line” but no, instead we have 4 southbound trains per hour scheduled for late morning – 10,29, 40, 59, this being two up on the new timetable that was released only last week, at least for a section of the day. Santa specials, lost trains or could this something more positive to look out for? I think we should be told.
