The Dugdale Centre has awoken from its long enforced period of inactivity. The new opening hours are 11am to 3pm Monday to Friday. So far the Café, Gift Shop and Gallery have reopened, and on 14th July they will be followed by the Museum and Local Studies Centre. The gallery plays host to a new exhibition by Palmers Green artist Patrick Samuel celebrating what he enjoyed about lockdown and his eagerness to to paint during the period of isolation

Palmers Green Art Group started 12 years ago to help a group of amateur artists nurture and develop their artistic skills in an informal and friendly environment. The group has changed over the years as different people have come and gone. Originally focused on watercolour, members now work in a variety of painting and drawing media, reflecting a diversity of individual styles and preferences. The Lanscroon Murals in Broomfield House before the fires. The staircase at the Beaumont Care Home in Southgate also has murals by the same artist.
The Broomfield House Trust is hoping to work with local artists, teachers and schoolchildren on a project that would promote a lifelong love of art and learning while at the same time contributing to the Trust's multipronged efforts to raise funds to restore Broomfield House.
The project would be be run along similar lines to Take One.......

The first month of this year's Artist-in-Residence scheme in Broomfield Conservatory was brought to a close with a very popular drop-in workshop, giving visitors an opportunity to learn how to create ceramic leaves.
Cathy Taylor's five-month residency goes by the overall title "Spirals of Life", each month having a different theme, but all within the overall concept of "biological sculptures".

A local artist has been awarded the 2016 Columbia Threadneedle Prize, Europe’s leading open competition for figurative and representational art.
Lewis Hazelwood-Horner, who lives in Southgate, receives a cash prize of £20,000 and a solo exhibition for a wider body of his work at Mall Galleries later this year.
His winning work, Salt in Tea, was painted following a two-year residency at the bespoke umbrella shop James Smith & Sons in London’s West End........
