Mayfield Tennis Club has a wonderful record of supporting wheelchair, disabled and senior players and of raising money for charity. But now it needs to raise funds for itseelf, to replace its courts. A crowdfunder is being used and offers some excellent rewards provided by local businesses and members.

Mayfield Tennis and Sports Club is promising a fun-packed day for the local community on Saturday 30th April. There'll be a chance to share a court with professionals and to try out other sports, plus activities for kids. Money raised will go towards new courts and the launch of tennis coaching for disabled people.

Two years ago Palmers Green resident Joseph, then aged 14, wrote a highly personal and persuasive letter to his local councillors suggesting that young people would greatly benefit from a skate park in Broomfield Park. A group of local parents have now begun a campaign to fulfil Joseph's vision and have launched an online petition. Friends of Broomfield Park have said that they would welcome a feasibility study and more detailed proposals and will be interested to hear what their members and other local residents think about the idea.

As Premier League clubs prepare for the start of the new season, the world-first arrangement which has seen women's outpatient care delivered from Tottenham Hotspur's superb stadium approaches the full-time whistle. The groundbreaking arrangement which kicked off in mid-April, at the height of the covid-19 pandemic, has seen the state-of-the-art stadium host antenatal, gynaecology and obstetric services in its spacious facilities. The drive-through Covid-19 testing service will continue to operate from the THFC stadium roomy basement car park, and is even due to expand capacity in the near future.

The 71st year of the North London Netball League's presence in Palmers Green might herald a (literally) brighter future for netball in our part of the capital, or it could be the League's final season - it all hangs on a vote that will be taken at next month's meeting of Enfield's planning committee. Your voice too might help sway the committee members in favour of granting planning permission for an upgrade to the courts which has the full support of the Friends of Broomfield Park.

London Sport is carrying out research on behalf of Enfield and Haringey councils into participation in sport and physical activity amongst Turkish and Kurdish populations living across both boroughs. Statistics show that Turkish and Kurdish residents are less physically active than other residents, which can negatively affect their health. The research is aimed at finding out why this is and what could be done to improve the amount of physical activity by Turkish and Kurdish residents.

Horses are rarely seen now on the roads in Southgate but were once a common sight. Cars have now replaced carts and carriages. Petrol stations have replaced drinking troughs. There are presently nine remaining drinking troughs located in Enfield and these have all been planted out. Selborne Bowling Club took the community initiative to plant out this trough to brighten up this part of The Green opposite their club.
