The first ever Firs Farm Wetlands Festival will be held on 16th July and will celebrate the progress of the project to transform an area of playing fields into a site for pond dipping, nature trails, educational tours, a relaxing walk or family picnicwalking - not to mention, the largest sustainable urban drainage system in the UK, designed to reduce the risk of flooding to local homes.
The celebrations will be hosted and organised by the Friends of Firs Farm. But they need help to fulfil.......

If you'd like to have a stall at the 2015 Palmers Green Festival, you'll need to move fast. It's already too late for food and catering stalls, but there are ten days to go before booking closes for everything.
If you do take a stall, you'll be joining an eclectic collection of organisations large and small. The current list of stallholders is on the Festival website.
As always, the Festival organisers depend on teams of volunteers to run this big event. You too could.......

As anyone who went last year or the year before will know, Palmers Green Festival is a brilliant way of bringing people together and having fun. It's entirely volunteer run and a big festival needs a lot of volunteers to make it run smoothly and safely.

Despite rain earlier in the day, the Proms in the Park season got off to a hot and sunny start on Sunday afternoon. A pleasant atmosphere prevailed as music lovers sat on the grass near the Broomfield Park bandstand to listen to music by North London Brass, with an intermission provided by young drummers from BishBashBosh and BoxBeaters.

The mysterious "Palmers Scream" scroll, discovered in Southgate Town Hall, says that "Broomfield should be a happy place. All effort should be taken to bring joy and merriment to its grasses throughout the year, for each smile reduces the power of the witches as they sleep." One group of people who are rising to the challenge of "bringing joy and merriment to its grasses" are the Friends of Broomfield Park, who this year are extending the season of summer free musical events to take in.......

For the second year running the Lamb Festival is running literary and photographic competitions with unusual themes. There are three entry categories: primary schools, secondary schools and open (ie adults).

Congratulations to Hugh, Ann and everyone else behind today's St Nicholas Fair. A great success! Thanks also to the Met Office for playing their part and bringing out the sun (the thermostat could have been turned up a bit higher though!).

After hundreds of hours of preparation and nearly a year of planning, the St Nicholas Fair will be here one week from today.
There will be 85 stalls with a huge variety of foods, clothes, jewellery, gifts and unique hand-made items. Plus a whole day of free children's entertainment run by volunteers from Hang out the Bunting, Lolly Pots, Nelly Jelly, Pirates and Princesses, Monkey music, Disco Ducks, Tatty Bumpkin and last but not least Smart Play.In addition there will be the amazing Mr.......

The organisers of the 2014 St Nicholas Fair still have a few vacancies for stallholders.
As before, the Fair will be held on Winchmore Hill Green, starting at 11am on Saturday 13th December and running through until 7pm.
If you're interested in having a stall or pitch at the Fair, all the relevant details and an application form are online.

Wow, what a wonderful Festival! Thanks to the brilliant team of organisers and helpers, stallholders and the public, who turned up in droves and joined in the fun (especially the dancing).
The Festival organisers estimate a turn out of nearly 10,000, ranging from babes in arms to those of us who are enjoying our "third age" and truly reflecting our diverse community.

The sun came out for the special Love Parks Week events in Broomfield Park last Sunday, and so did the people.
In Broomfield Conservatory, Marc Harris played and sang while visitors admired the Angels' Trumpets and many other plants.
In the Community Orchard, there were apple cakes, apple wine, country dancing and "Celtic Folk Americana" played live.
At the Bandstand, Bowes Park Folk Club gave their first event north of the North Circ.

Following last August's resoundingly successful revival, Broomfield Blues is returning this year with five servings of the very best Blues and music loosely derived from the Blues. The concerts at the bandstand in Broomfield Park will be held every Sunday in August. Each Sunday afternoon will see a different mix of music organised by the Vintage Music Association, the people behind the local St Harmonica's Blues Club (every Friday at St Monica's Club in Cannon Hill).

The 2014 N21 Summer Exhibition on 5th July will be repeating last year's successful formula: artists showing and selling their work on the Green, live acoustic music, Prosecco by the glass and (hopefully this year) sunshine outdoors on the Green, while inside the King's Head craftspeople will be exhibiting and selling their goods, such as ceramics, jewellery and textiles.
