While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.
Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.
For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.
Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions

Next weekend there is a rare opportunity to help create a new hedgerow of native plants in the rural depths of Palmers Green - to be precise, in Broomfield Park alongside Aldermans Hill and Powys Lane. The work is being carried out by volunteers from the Friends of Broomfield Park, who have been given 420 "whips" - young bareroot saplings - by the Woodland Trust.
The volunteers will be planting eight types of tree - Elder, Hazel, Blackthorn, Dog Rose, Crab Apple, Birch, Rowan and Oak.

Two months after the resounding success of the 2013 Palmers Green Community Festival, its organisers have already begun planning Festival 2014, which will be held on Sunday 7th September.
More than six thousand people visited the 2013 Festival, which featured over a hundred stalls and attractions, which all did good business and are reportedly keen to come back next year. But the team which organised and ran the Festival was pretty small. This year the organisers have already begun recruiting.......

If you're planning to send charity Christmas cards this year, be careful where you buy them from! If you purchase them from a well-known High Street name, the chances are that most of the money you spend will go to the retailer, not to the charity. Very few shops pass on more than 25 per cent of the selling price to the named charity, and the average figure is actually closer to 10 per cent. We don't yet have the figures for 2013, but the Charities Advisory Trust carried out research last year.......

Work to install the crossing and relocate pay and display parking bays will cost £35,000........
The charity All People All Places, which runs projects to help homeless people, is hoping to expand the Haringey Churches Winter Shelter across the borough boundary into Enfield to become the Haringey and Enfield Churches Winter Shelter. It has the support of local MPs David Burrowes, Andy Love and Nick de Bois, who have all recognised the need for emergency accommodation, in particular for single non-priority clients.
The charity is keen to hear from anyone who could help achieve this by.......
Plans for refurbishment of Palmers Green Library, which were approved by Enfield Council's Cabinet on 16 October, will leave Palmers Green Town Centre without a proper library for a period of 14 months.
The deadline is approaching for comments on an application to convert a disused 3-storey office building in Fox Lane into 21 flats.
The deadline for public comments on planning application P13-02624PRJ is Tuesday 15 October. The building in question is Dumayne House, which is situated on the southern side of Fox Lane, immediately to the West of the railway bridge........
