Enfield Council is running a public consultation to gauge views about an application for funding for improvements to children's play facilities in three local parks. The Council has a duty under the legislation to put in place proposals for the preservation and enhancement of its conservation areas. As part of this duty the Council is reviewing the Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Proposals for its 22 conservation areas in three phases. The Friends of Hazelwood Recreation Ground are currently preparing a funding application to a charitable foundation for £50,000 to improve the playground in the Rec, including installing new play equipment. In order to succeed, it is necessary for the Friends to consult local residents and users of the recreation ground and demonstrate that the new equipment is needed and that the project has public support. Palmers Green residents who are angry with the wholesale removal of trees from a trackside cutting have begun sending messages of protest to a Network Rail manager. Complaints relate to a section of track adjacent to the Fox Lane bridge. On the western side of the cutting absolutely all trees and bushes have been removed along the section of track next to the new "Palmadium" housing development.
