Research carried out by the charity Leonard Cheshire Disability shows that Enfield Council is failing to fulfil its obligation to provide timely help to disabled people who need to make adjustments to their flats or houses. Under a 1996 law all councils are obliged  to provide Disabled Facilities Grants to all people who apply and are are qualified within twelve months.  In Enfield there are currently 155 people who are waiting for a disabled-friendly home - which will either require.......

Enfield Council has written to businesses located along the A105 (Enfield Town-Bush Hill Parade-Winchmore Hill-Palmers Green) to reassure them that when implementing the "Mini-Holland" cycling scheme it will be taking account of their concerns about car parking, deliveries, bus services and accessibility for elderly and disabled customers. The letter from the Council also promises special consultation events for businesses and outlines the remaining steps in the consultation and planning.......

A rare original feature just removed from a house on the Lakes Estate is being offered for free to anyone who can offer it a good new home and would like to come and pick it up. On Sunday 26th May a ceremony was held at the Garden of Remembrance in Broomfield Park to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of the World War One Gallipoli Campaign. Save Trent Park campaigners are warning that delay by Enfield Council in registering the Park's historic mansion as an Asset of Community Value is jeopardising its future.  They fear that the former university campus might be sold to an  private developer at any moment, before registration is complete. Registration as an ACV would give the campaign a six-month breathing space, during which time it could seek a buyer for the campus who would be willing to guarantee the conditions voted.......

Next Tuesday (28th April) he Ruth Winston Centre will be the venue for the last of a series of drop-in sessions giving you advice on how to keep your home warm during cold weather. Ruth Winston are working in partnership with Enfield Council to deliver the event, where experts from Retrofit London and Smart Homes will provide information about energy saving measures and grants of up to 75% towards the total cost of implementing them. Enfield Council is to start looking for suitable partners to take over the majority of the borough's libraries.  These libraries would become "community libraries", offering a restricted range of library services, and would be co-located with other types of service provided by the chosen partners.  However, despite the use of "community" in the designation, a recent document suggests that chosen partners might include the commercial sector..
