Enfield Libraries are launching the 2016 Summer Reading Challenge - The Big Friendly Read - on the green outside Enfield Town Library on Saturday 16th July. And they are still looking for volunteer Summer Reading Ambassadors.
The launch event is completely free and will feature local authors reading, performing and signing their books.

Many readers will have noticed that there has been no noticeable reduction in the number of train cancellations on Great Northern. They mostly occur at weekends (when the service is nominally only half-hourly in the first place) and during school holidays, reflecting the fact the fact that the chronic shortage of drivers continues. An article in the Guardian has revealed that there is a serious risk that the Accident & Emergency Department at the North Middlesex Hospital may be forced to close in the near future because an acute shortage of doctors means that it is unable to provide a sufficient level of patient safety.
