A senior official from the Department for Education (DfE) has written to Fox Lane & District Residents Association (FLDRA) with some clarification about the provision of primary school places in Enfield borough and in particular about the future of Bowes Southgate Green School and the possible building of a new school in The Bourne adjacent to Grovelands Park.
The latest information on the Cycle Enfield website about Enfield Council's Quieter Neighbourhoods programme outlines an updated strategy, which envisages schemes eventually covering the entire borough. It includes, for the first time, a scheme in Bowes ward west of Green Lanes. Revised proposals for the Fox Lane and Connaught Gardens schemes, which are included in phase 1, will be revealed at public events in, respectively, 'late summer 2019' and 'early Autumn 2019'
The Annual General Meeting of the Broomfield House Trust will be held next Tuesday at 7.30pm at the Ruth Winston Centre. Ahead of the meeting the Trust's chair, Colin Younger, has issued his annual report. As outlined in the report, the current most optimistic scenario for the rebuilding of Broomfield House is restoration of the complete exterior of the building with only very limited fitting out of the interior, to incorporate a cafe. Enfield Council support this, but only on condition that the costs of this work are completely covered by money earned by building housing in the Stableyard.
