This warning came in the email enclosing this month's Palmers Green Safer Neighbourhood News:
Please take note: I visited an elderly victim of theft last Saturday. He'd parked in Lodge Drive Car park in a disabled bay and was told by a man he had to go to Palmers Green Station car park to pay to avoid getting ripped off like his Mum had. The victim went to the station car park and put his bank card in the parking machine, put his pin in and no ticket came out and the machine kept his card. The man who had gone with him quickly told him someone would be along to get his card out later and left. On reporting his card swallowed by the parking machine, the victim's bank told him that £300 had been taken from his account. The victim's card had been used at a bank cash machine nearby to The Triangle, Palmers Green. Please warn elderly relatives and neighbours about this scam. Don't listen to the helpful scammer! Please read the parking instructions at the car park you are in.
