A new locally based arts festival is running essay and photographic competitions which will be open only to Enfield residents or students at schools in the borough.

In the run-up to this year's London borough elections the Enfield branch of the London Cycling Campaign has set up an online survey to help focus and promote its contribution to the London-wide Space for Cycling campaign. Information supplied by members of the public about local cycle-friendly priorities will be passed on to every candidate in every ward prior to the May elections.

Last year Aroma Patisserie in Green Lanes was a competitor, making it through to the Southern Regional Finals. This year it's the turn of Yasar Halim in Hedge Lane, which incorporates a bakery that turns out a large range of savoury and sweet products, mostly with a Turkish flavour. The Enfield Independent has reported that a campaign has been launched to improve safety for pedestrians crossing Green Lanes at the Fox Lane junction. This is just one of several hazardous crossing points facing pedestrians in Palmers Green........
