The online opinion survey about the proposed new clock for Palmers Green Triangle has now finished. Many thanks to everyone who participated.

The survey revealed mixed views. Two out of three of respondents liked the idea of erecting a clock, though only around 50 per cent were keen on the proposed design. There was near unamiity, however, on the question of whether or not the triangular traffic island should remain - 59 out of 63 people would not like it to be removed, as recommended by a consutant a couple of years ago.

Should there be a clock?
 - Yes 42
 - No 21
Like the proposed design?
 - Yes 32
 - No 31
Keep the traffic island?
 - Yes 59
 - Don't mind either way 4
 - No 0

As well as voting, most of the respondents provided comments about the clock and also about the more general question of how to improve the Triangle.  These comments are reproduced in full below. If you're not familiar with the proposed clock design, it's described in two earlier reports - here and here.

The online survey

 Introductory text

Green Lanes Business Association have been allocated money from the Residents' Priority Fund to erect a clock at Palmers Green Triangle. We understand that the current design is similar to that shown in the picture.

We would like to gauge the views of residents and frequent visitors to Palmers Green about the idea of erecting a clock and about its design.

We are also interested in your ideas about the future of the Triangle. For instance, should the traffic island be removed to improve traffic flow? What other ideas do you have to improve the junction for pedestrians, drivers or both?

The questions

  • Are you in favour of erecting a clock at the Triangle? (Yes or No)
  • Do you like the proposed clock design? (Yes or No)
  • What do you like or dislike about the proposed clock design?
  • Do you want the Triangle traffic island to remain? (Yes, No, Don't mind either way)
  • What are your thoughts about improving the Triangle?
