The theme: Community

The theme of the residency is ‘Community’, celebrating and exploring personal, local and global communities, and the power of connection and collaboration. As part of the residency and exhibition we want artists to explore how they could connect with the communities of/in Palmers Green. This could take many forms:

  • Taking inspiration from the communities' history, experiences, future
  • Using workshops to influence final exhibition
  • Displaying work in a local business or in Devonshire Square
  • We are open to artists interpreting the theme in their proposal.

During the 12-week residency the successful bidder will be asked to host a series of workshops for the local community based on their practice. At the end of the residency the work will be exhibited and installed for three weeks at Arbeit Studios, in Devonshire Square or in a Palmers Green high street business.

In the meantime, the results of the third High Street Happenings commission can be experienced at Arbeit's Palmers Green studio. Enfield is Disabled is an event created by DYSPLA, a studio working with neurodivergent storymakers, and made in collaboration with 11 local disabled residents, ranging from 10 to 60 years old. Audiences are invited to experience analog and innovative digital art, side by side, in a maximalist installation of digital sculptures and recorded poetry.

Enfield is Disabled is open on Saturdays and Sundays between 12pm and 4pm, continuing until Sunday 4th September.
