HERE Suburban Film Festival
Each year, Talkies Community Cinema partners with Short Sighted Cinema to commission four new short films as part of the HERE Film Festival.
The festival celebrates the diversity of interests, people and places in the suburbs of London. HERE in the suburbs we aren’t the swanky super-rich, the celebrity glitterati or bearded hipsters. HERE is where the cinema creatives of London produce their best output. HERE is where life is a rich diversity of race, religion and culture. HERE is where most of London lives.
Over the past three years Talkies has commissioned 13 short films by emerging British talents, which have gone on to be screened at film festivals around the world!
The commission is open to all genres and forms of filmmaking including comedy, drama, animation and original documentary.
According to Talkies' founder David Williamson, "The best ideas should focus on suburban life in all its glory. Previous winners have truly pushed the boundaries of possibilities, bringing stories from romantic to gritty, featuring commuter secrets, alien abduction, immigration and smear tests."
Mentorship is offered by local award winning film makers. Talkies can also arrange local contacts to help throughout the production.
The commission is open to all filmmakers, including groups who wish to collaborate. You do not need to live in North London.
