Next Sunday the community orchard in Broomfield Park will be full of music and the sound of pots and pans being bashed as the Friends of Broomfield Park enact their annual wassail. It's an ancient ceremony aimed at waking up trees from their winter slumber, thanking them for last year's crop and driving out evil spirits. Hopefully, there won't be any evil spirits there, but there will be mulled cider...
The gate opens at 1pm and wassailing begins at 1.30pm.
