202010 greatest showman

Yet another first for Talkies Community Cinema! They're teaming up with the Friends of Broomfield Park to put on another spectacular show in the park, but unlike in August, when rain stopped play, this time they'll be under cover, as for the first time they show a film in a tent - a very big tent, with room for social distancing.

The tent belongs to Zippos Circus, which will be in the park from 8th to 12th October, and on the evening of Sunday 11th Talkies will be moving in their projector and screen. And what more appropriate picture to launch the brand new Circus Cinema experience than The Greatest Showman, starring Hugh Jackman?

Making the show Covid-safe

A lot of planning has gone in to make the event Covid-safe and the council's public health team have checked the arrangements and given the green light.

To make sure you and others are kept safe, the event will have a limited audience to allow social distancing; bookings are a minimum of two and a maximum of six; everyone needs to wear a mask throughout their visit and follow a process for arrival, seating and exit.

The film has a PG certificate and tickets cost £8 (£5 for children aged 8 to 16). Doors open at 7pm and the firm starts at 7.45pm and runs for an hour and three quarters without an intermission.

Zippos Circus in Broomfield Park, 8th to 12 October

Zippos Circus is back on the road following a break due to COVID-19 with the highly-acclaimed Big Top tour Rebound!, starring a diverse cast of thrilling artists from around the globe.

The show is presented by Zippos’ first female Ringmistress, Britain’s own Tracy Jones, while veteran Ringmaster Norman Barrett, 84, takes a break for this season due to COVID-19. Tracy will present a fast-moving spectacle like no other as astonishing acrobats and aerialists, comics and daredevil motorcyclists come together for this year’s colourful production.

Tracy appears alongside co-star Brazilian showman Paulo Dos Santos, who is a multi-talented comic, acrobat and martial artist – and stands at just over a metre tall.

While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.

Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.

For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.

Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions
