Two months after the resounding success of the 2013 Palmers Green Community Festival, its organisers have already begun planning Festival 2014, which will be held on Sunday 7th September.
More than six thousand people visited the 2013 Festival, which featured over a hundred stalls and attractions, which all did good business and are reportedly keen to come back next year. But the team which organised and ran the Festival was pretty small. This year the organisers have already begun recruiting people to the working parties, with the hope of sharing the effort between a larger number of volunteers.
At present the organisers are looking in particular for people to fill the following roles:
- "Zone Leaders", who would take responsibility for an individual zone within the Festival, eg the Bandstand Zone, which the organisers would like to become the musical hub of the Festival - a "mini-Glastonbury".
- Poster and leaflet design
- A web designer to overhaul the Festival website
- Health & Safety management
- Marketing and Public Relations
- Sponsorship Management
- Recruitment and management of volunteers.
There are opportunities both for people with experience in these areas and for people who would like to gain experience in order to enhance their employment prospects.
Investing in the Festival's future
In contrast to last year, the Festival Committee has decided not to disburse profits from the 2013 to local initiatives, but instead to use the surplus money to help secure the financial health of the Festival for years to come. The Festival is to be established as a Community Interest Company (CIC) Limited by Guarantee. The Festival will continue to be run on a not-for-profit basis and no-one will be paid for their contribution.
