[Original article]

Consultation about public realm improvements in Enfield Town restarts next month, when the council will be holding a series of online workshops.

The Let's Talk Enfield Town project was launched in 2019 after Enfield Council successfully bid for Liveable Neighbourhoods funding from the Mayor of London and Transport for London (TfL). A first round of public engagement was carried out last year and a report on its findings has been issued. However, the project has been on hold because of the severe effects of the Covid pandemic on TfL's fare revenue. TfL originally allocated £1 million for the project for FY2020/21 and the council is hoping that this amount will be made available for FY2021/22, though much will depend on the government's readiness to provide further financial assistance to TfL, which, like the initial bailout, may be subject to unwelcome conditions.

The next round of public engagement will take the form of online "workshops" using Zoom. Participation will be limited to 25 people per workshop, so if you would like to take part you need to register as soon as possible.

There will be an introductory workshop on Thursday 15th October at 6.30-8pm, then separate workshops looking at different "key public spaces":

  • Library Green and Town Park entrance - Tuesday 27th October 6-8pm Tuesday 20th October 6-8pm
  • Fountain Island - Thursday 29th October 6-8pm Thursday 22nd October 6-8pm
  • Enfield Town Station Plaza - Tuesday 3rd November 6-8pm
  • Saddlers Mill Square (area at junction of Church Street and Little Park Gardens) - Wednesday 4th November 6-8pm.

While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.

Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.

For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.

Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions
