The lessees of the former gym above the Alfred Herring pub have applied for a premises licence that would permit the sale of alcohol for consumption on or off the premises for 20 hours a day, between 7am and 3am the next day.

The application for the licence for The Green Room, Upper Floor 316 Green Lanes N13 5TT, has been submitted by Illyria Industries Ltd.

Illyria Industries Ltd was incorporated on 1 September 2023 with a registered office in Southbury Road, Enfield. One director has been registered: Diana Spaho, born June 1968 and with British citizenship. According to an official UK government website, the nature of the company's business is "93199 - Other sports activities".

A web search for "Diana Spaho" finds someone of that name as having been company secretary of a bar/restaurant in Queens Parade, Green Lanes, Harringay, called the "Vllaznia" (now closed). The company's director was Mr Bujar Spaho, born in 1984, so possibly her son.

The sole online review of the Vllaznia that I could find gave it 4 stars, commenting "This is an Albanian style restaurant, the food is really delicious and reasonably priced" (an above average score for this particular reviewer, who visits a wide range of restaurant types).

According to Wikipedia, Bujar is an Albanian given name meaning "generous", while Vllaznia is the name of Albania's oldest football club, with that country's second largest football stadium.

An advertisement published during the last week in December by the Enfield Dispatch (in its weekly email newsletter) gives notice of the application for a premises licence, including the following information about how to object:

"Any person wishing to submit relevant representations concerning this application must give notice by emailing , giving in detail the grounds of the representation no later than: 10 January 2024."

The advertisement refers readers to an entry in Enfield Council's licensing register - the information in the register is reproduced below.

Extremely concerned about a licence that would permit the sale of alcohol for consumption on or off the premises for 20 hours a day, between 7am and 3am the next day. We have seen the changes, noise, and social problems behind Southgate station with the people such a place will attract.
