The Fox is being advertised for rent at £120,000 pa.

There is fascinating detail there about the area including this:-
Transformational refurbishment planned
A fabulous refurbishment will transform the Fox into a great pub with great food. Inside, the pub will be redecorated throughout. Other upgrades throughout the pub such as overhauling the bar servery, redecorated toilets, refurbished furniture and installing a new Smart Dispense system will give the pub a much more premium feel.
Outside the pub, a redecoration will allow for new signage and lighting. We will also be adding a new covered courtyard with heaters and additional lighting.

So the new landlord at the Fox (if there ever is one) will have to invest a minimum of £300K to fit out the interior and pay £120K a year for the lease. But we lucky customers (if we can afford to buy the odd pint or two) will benefit from leather wing armchairs and dado-height tiling in the gents'.
Actually, after a long period of stasis, something is happening inside the Fox. It looks like they're working on the interior walls, so maybe someone is planning to move in...
Meanwhile, just along the road...
Wetherspoons have put the Alfred Herring up for sale.
It's one of 32 pubs that J.D. Wetherspoon have put on the market, and they say that it will stay open until someone buys the lease, which runs until 2040. O course, with the British economy about the receive a huge boost now that we have a new government completely unconnected to the last government, we can expect a big rise in pub going, so the Herring will surely be snapped up in no time. But what if it isn't? And what if no-one moves into the Fox?
Incidentally, the Dispatch report says that the Fox has been refurbished, which is certainly the case on the outside (a huge improvement), but, as mentioned above, the interior hasn't been refurbished and the new leaseholder will have to pay a hefty sum for the work to be done.

The Fox no longer appears on the Star pubs website. Has it been taken, or is this a more ominous sign?
