I've just come across yet another report supporting the case that bike lanes don't "kill" high streets, but can in fact make them more prosperous. It seems there's even a branch of economics called "cyclonomics" (it can't be any less reliable than the main branch of economics)

The claims about bike lanes "destroying" shops and Church Street becoming a "graveyard" would be simply preposterous if they weren't intended to alarm and scare people. I've yet to see any evidence that they damage trade at all, and it's vanishingly unlikely that they would have the major impact that Save Our Green Lanes is asserting.

Interestingly, since Orford Road in Walthamstow was closed to cars,. for the first time in 15 years it has no vacant shops. And this was the street that anti-mini Holland campaigners paraded along carrying a coffin!
