Apple Day celebration coming up - could you lend a hand?

Apple Day is on us again on Sunday the 16th October between 2.00 and 4.00pm.

We will be juicing and tasting interesting varieties of apples; there will be home baking and refreshments; Honey from our own hives; Ralph's unique bug hotels, nesting boxes and bird feeders; Anne's beautiful lino prints; and last but not least, an afternoon of music. And entry is free. All proceeds will go to the orchard and growing space.

We are very fortunate to have some talented local musicians playing, including Dave and Ruth Buckwell of That Blue Patch, Gearoid O'meachair and Mad Dog Dave Barnes. Watch this space for an update on who else will be playing.

The catch is that to make it happen we will need some help with the following:
  • Do you have any apples we can pick (we have used up a lot of our own apples at our recent picnic when we had a big taste-in)?
  • Or you can donate apples on the day
  • Setting up at 12.30 and clearing up at 5.00pm
  • Home baking - bring along a cake
  • Help with chopping and juicing apples
  • Help with running our stall
  • Cleaning our equipment at the Clubhouse on Friday the 14th between 10am and 12pm.
  • Preparing and chopping apples at the Clubhouse on Saturday the 15th between 10am and 12pm
Please let us know if you would like to help out in some way.

Thanks

While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.

Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.

For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.

Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions
