Forum topic: Where has all the anger gone?

Where has all the anger gone?

Emerging from the recent Public Art in PG consultation (#6745 &6) I commented it was possibly the calmest community event I had experienced. Then along comes the first new PG ward Forum earlier this week and it’s the same! Again, a couple of dozen or so attendees showing a general intent to listen and work towards some undefined result without blaming some other or feeling personally persecuted for whatever. I’m not sure if the opportunities for sub-culture fringe shouting are now so great on social media and non-mainstream radio / TV that there is no need to attend face to face community events, or if the current UK bin-fire has so clouded any sight of Brexit’s sunlit uplands that despair has simply taken over. Whatever the driver, local meets seem to be the beneficiary, and long may it continue.
The PG ward forum itself, having heard much input, concluded that future sessions will have a core agenda based around:
Broomfield Park
The shopping area
Police (aka crime)
In addition, it will look for ideas which may contribute towards a better PG, so as to be oven-ready if and when future investment opportunities arise, plus a window to highlight PG’s good-news.
Add in the art to come and not a bad first month.

While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.

Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.

For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.

Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions
