In this time of Covid, the poor (as always) are suffering the worst. Fairtrade, always a lifeline, is now even more important. It works by guaranteeing growers of some basic crops (coffee, cocoa, tea, bananas and many others) a price for what they grow that will never drop below a level permitting them a decent life. There is also a premium paid which the local community decides how to spend; they might fund a health post or a teacher, or a lorry to get their produce to market more easily.
The Enfield Fairtrade Campaign has not been very active of recent years, but now we are kick-starting it back into action. The Steering Group has been reformed and we are starting to look around for actions and projects to promote Fairtrade in the Enfield Community.

- join the Steering Group, which will initially meet monthly by Zoom, later less frequently
- put forward your ideas for ways we can promote Fairtrade in Enfield
- invite a speaker to your place of worship, school or other group
- just go on the mailing list
