A message received today from Feedback, an environmental organisation campaigning to transform the food system.

I’m reaching out to inform you of a series of 15-week-long, 4 days per week, paid internships (£10.75 per hour) for young people (aged 18-24) that we are running with Enfield-based Forty Hall Farm. We also have an additional internship placement in Barnet at GROW in Totteridge Academy (more information below).

We would very much appreciate it if you would be willing to share these opportunities with any young people in your networks who you think may be interested. No experience is required, and we would like to actively promote these opportunities to people who may experience barriers getting into the environment or food sectors. The upcoming application deadlines are Sunday 28th June and Sunday 12th July (you can find more information about the roles through the jobs section on our website: https://feedbackglobal.org/about-us/jobs/).

Key information on the internships:

  • 6 placements in total in Enfield at Forty Hall Farm: 2 interns in market gardening/food growing, 2 interns at the organic vineyard and 2 in organic livestock and animal management; application form links below
  • Additional organic farming internship in Barnet
  • All internships are 15 weeks long and paid at London Living Wage (£10.75 per hour)
  • Internships will be 4 days per week, with an annual leave allowance and one day per fortnight spent with Feedback receiving external training worth up to £1,000 (currently taking place online)
  • Applicants will be asked to fill in a short application form (see below); the questions can be answered in writing OR by uploading a video/audio file

Eligibility criteria for the internships

  • Applicants must be aged 18-24 years old
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the UK
  • Applicants must not be currently enrolled on, or have graduated from, a higher education (undergraduate or postgraduate) degree in the last 12 months
  • Applicants must not have secured paid employment in the environmental sector in the last 12 months

Active application forms for the placements

Please contact (cc’d) for questions or further information.

NOTE: Given the current COVID-19 restrictions, we are (as of 19th June 2020) not able to advocate the use of public transport to any placements. While a bursary to purchase a bicycle to travel to work is available for the interns, this will need to be taken into consideration at the application stage.

While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.

Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.

For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.

Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions
