North London & South Herts Ramblers

ramblers logo

Since 1972 our group has been offering walks to those with a shared love of walking and the countryside. Most of our members live in Barnet, Enfield and Potters Bar, and we generally walk in Hertfordshire and the Chilterns. Each Sunday we usually lead a long walk of 10 to 15 miles, and a shorter walk of between 4 and 8 miles. Twice a month we usually have a leisurely Wednesday social walk, and a couple of times a year we arrange coach and train walks.

Why not come on a couple of our walks to try them out? Whether you want to come regularly or from time to time, we’ll be very happy to see you!

Enjoy the countryside, get some exercise, and unwind. We're a friendly group, all ages welcome, but the core ranges from 30 to 60+.

Learn - Laugh - Live

  • u3a members are busy learning new things and staying active.
  • u3a is really good fun
  • making the most of life

Nobody has to stop learning just because they have stopped working. The u3a is for people who want to keep active in mind and body. There's first age learning at school or college, followed by second age learning - the skills learnt at work. And there's third age learning when people learn whatever they want. That is what happens in u3a. People come together in small groups to study a subject they all find interesting. We already have over 50 interest Groups

Membership of the u3a is open to men and women who are no longer in full time work, irrespective of race, religion or politics. There is neither a lower or an upper age limit; no qualifications are required and none are given.

The Enfield Society

enfieldsociety

This society was founded in 1936 as the Enfield Preservation Society (EPS), and renamed The Enfield Society (TES) in 2007. It has about 2000 members and is one of the most active amenity societies in the country. The Enfield Society has a record of vigorous action in defence of the local environment by practical conservation and campaigning. There is also a strong social section. The Society is a registered charity, No.276451.

Enfield’s environment is threatened as never before. Open spaces are being sacrificed to commercial development. The Green Belt is under constant pressure. Historic buildings are deteriorating. We are fighting to preserve our heritage so that future generations can enjoy Enfield’s rich architectural legacy and Green Belt countryside. We do not oppose development, but do all that we can to ensure that it enhances the character and atmosphere of the Borough, while not losing the best of the past.

While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.

Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.

For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.

Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions
